Fiction for Moms

Several of my “fans” have asked to see my novel, Escape From Paradise. I wrote the first draft when my children were very small, and I needed to escape into a book with a heroine who was a mommy, too. At that time, the female protagonists of suspense novels, when you could find them, were all very young and very single. So, I decided that if I wanted an adventure story with a mother who transcended her role, I’d have to write my own.

Here’s a brief description of what it’s about:  Mary Peterson was an Olympic-track athlete in college, but she’s been sidelined to the mommy-track now. When her old roommate, Joanie Cameron, offers Mary a free trip to the South Pacific, she jumps at the opportunity, never guessing that Joanie is an industrial spy who plans to use Mary and her kids as “cover” while she smuggles intellectual property into the United States. When they arrive at the tropical island of Moorea, Mary gets one perfect day in paradise before Joanie disappears, leaving Mary with a flash drive containing secret information someone is willing to kill for. Mary begins the novel a victim, but ends it a hero, ultimately risking her life to escape the island, save her three children, and to get the flash drive into the right hands. Click here to read the first chapter. Escape from Paradise - Chapter One

Here’s another book I think you’ll like: Wild Goose Chase, by Terri Thayer. It’s a cozy mystery, set in the world of the quilting industry. Terri’s website is www.territhayer.com. Terri is a personal friend, so if you’d like her to come to speak for your book group or women’s club, let me know, and I’ll twist her arm.
